Why does PamFax sometimes charge a higher price?

There are several reasons why PamFax might show you a message that a fax you are trying to send might be higher priced than the standard rate. There are two main reasons which can lead to a higher price. One is the "slow transmission" flagging of a fax destination number and the second sending to "Service numbers". "Slow transmission" number When someone else, or you, sent a fax to a fax number before which took a long time to send, this number was afterwards marked as "slow transmission". The next time you send you will see a notification in PamFax that the price is higher. Each fax page is calculated with maximum 60 seconds transmission time. If the transmission takes longer than this, it will result in the fax number being classified as a "slow transmission" number. If this is the case with a number you are trying to send a fax to, PamFax will ask you for acceptance of the higher rate. You will see an extra page in PamFax explaining to you why this is and you need to accept it to send the fax - if you do not accept you can not send your fax. Note that should the sending be within the rage of 60 seconds you will see the surplus amount refunded to your account automatically. As a result you will then only pay the standard rate. PamFax is a self learning system and should faxing to a previously classified "slow transmission" number be not slow afterwards, then PamFax will remove this number again from the list. "Service numbers" When sending to a service number a surcharge is applied. PamFax has a database of several hundred thousand area codes and service number codes to detect these numbers as we are charged significantly more when sending a fax to a service number. As a result, we have to increase the price of these faxes. We are aware this can be both surprising and annoying. However, you will see an extra page in PamFax explaining to you why this is and you need to accept it to send the fax - if you do not accept you can not send your fax. | |
